NO to a new town at Hatton

South Warwickshire Local Plan Heading for Failure?

As part of the new South Warwickshire Local Plan (SWLP) Warwick and Stratford District Councils have identified 2 potential new settlements to meet the projected housing needs of South Warwickshire.

Despite the overwhelming weight of evidence provided to the planning officers at Warwick District Council over the past two years by KHSR, an inexplicable decision has been made to include a new town at Hatton in the draft Local Plan which was published on 18th May 2026. KHSR believe that the proposals for Hatton are unsustainable and not deliverable and bring the viability of the entire local plan into doubt.

The next stage will be for the proposals to be considered by councillors following which residents will be consulted on the draft plan. This is called the Regulation 19 consultation. We expect the consultation to start on 12th June and run for 6 weeks. We need to respond to the consultation. KHSR is working with local parish councils to decide how best to do this. We will be holding a number of public meetings, during June, at which we will explain the proposals and guide residents through the process. Warwick District Council may also organise events to explain their proposals.

KHSR will continue to monitor developments with the SWLP and publish updates on this website and on Facebook.

Your voice is crucial in shaping our community.

Stand up for what you want in your area.

We need your views!

At the last consultation, your parish council objected to this development on your behalf. Your parish council and KHSR will be holding the following joint meetings to provide more information about the proposal for a new town at Hatton and to obtain your views before making representations on your behalf.

In addition to attending these public meetings you are encouraged to continue engaging with your Parish Council by attending their regular meetings and having your say. District and County councillors usually attend these meetings. They are your representatives and will relay your comments to their council.

Previous stage of the plan process.

The previous stage of the local plan process was in 2025 when the councils consulted on their "Preferred Options". This is also known as the Regulation 18 stage. Hatton was one of 12 potential new towns identified at that stage. KHSR and many residents objected to the proposals for Hatton - at that time named B1. More information about that stage is on our Preferred Options page
