NO to a new town at Hatton

The campaign is far from over...

As part of the new South Warwickshire Local Plan (SWLP) Warwick and Stratford District Councils have identified 2 potential new settlements to meet the projected housing needs of South Warwickshire.

Despite the overwhelming weight of evidence provided to the planning officers at Warwick District Council over the past two years by KHSR, an inexplicable decision has been made to include a new town at Hatton in the draft Local Plan. KHSR believe that the proposals for Hatton are unsustainable and not deliverable and bring the viability of the entire local plan into doubt.

Despite passionate speeches from public speakers, including KHSR, and some councillors, Warwick District Council agreed on 15th July to approve the draft SWLP and progress to public consultation on their proposals. – the Regulation 19 / publication stage. This stage is where residents and other interested parties will be consulted on the draft plan. The consultation will start on 21st July and run for 7 weeks - ending on 8th September.

The campaign against the new settlement at Hatton is not over because the consultation responses have to be considered by the Council in December. We will submit representations during the consultation and aim to convince councillors that the plan is not viable.  KHSR is working with local parish councils to decide how best to do this.

KHSR will continue to monitor developments with the SWLP and publish updates on this website and on Facebook.

The SWLP Process

Previous stage of the plan process.

The previous stage of the local plan process was in 2025 when the councils consulted on their "Preferred Options". This is also known as the Regulation 18 stage. Hatton was one of 12 potential new towns identified at that stage. KHSR and many residents objected to the proposals for Hatton - at that time named B1. More information about that stage is on our Preferred Options page
