NO to a new settlement at Hatton

As part of the new South Warwickshire Local Plan (SWLP) Warwick and Stratford District Councils have identified 12 potential new settlements to meet the projected housing needs of South Warwickshire. Hatton has been shortlisted as one of these sites.

The proposal from the original Call For Sites exercise was for a new settlement of 4,500 houses on the majority of the Arkwright Estate. In order to make a new settlement viable (around 6,000 houses), Warwick District Council decided to combine this with other land at Hatton which was put forward under the previous Call for Sites. This would enable the creation of a settlement of up to 8,156 new houses built across 403 hectares of Green Belt land. This site is referred to as B1.

Between January and March 2025 the district councils consulted upon these proposals - the Preferred Options Consultation. Keep Hatton Station Rural campaigned to raise awareness of the proposals and encouraged local residents to object to the proposals for Hatton - there are more appropriate places for new settlements. More information on the Preferred Options Consultation is on our Preferred Options page.

In November 2025 the promoters of the Arkwright element of B1 stated that they were now looking to build 5,250 dwellings.

Although the Preferred Options consultation has now closed it is not the end of the local plan process. The next stage will be the "Publication" consultation. We expect the draft consultation documents to be published on 15th May 2026 with the consultation starting on 8th June. Hopefully the councils will have listened to YOUR responses and the proposal for a new settlement at Hatton will be dropped. But if a new settlement at Hatton is included in that consultation we will need to respond to the consultation. KHSR is working with local parish councils to decide how best to do this but we anticipate that there will be a number of public meetings at which we will explain the proposals and guide residents through the process.

KHSR will continue to monitor developments with the SWLP and publish updates on this website and on Facebook.
